Lacing Up for a Good Cause
We are excited to announce that Summit Home Services is once again a proud sponsor of the Annual Metro Charity 5K, and this year we are fielding our biggest team yet. The event, now in its twelfth year, raises money for local youth education programs and family assistance funds, and it has become one of our favorite days on the calendar. There is something fitting about a company that spends its days keeping homes running spending a Saturday morning giving back to the families who live in them. If you are anywhere near the starting line this fall, come say hello.
Why This Race Matters to Us
The charities the 5K supports do work that reaches deep into our community. The youth education fund provides tutoring, school supplies, and scholarship support to kids who might otherwise go without, and the family assistance fund helps neighbors weather job losses, medical emergencies, and other hardships. Many of our own team members grew up in these neighborhoods and benefited from programs just like these, so this is not an abstract cause for us. It is personal. Every dollar raised stays local and goes directly to families in the metro.
What We’re Doing This Year
Beyond sponsoring the event, our team is showing up in force. We will have a booth near the finish line with water, snacks, and a few of our technicians on hand, along with a fun spin-the-wheel giveaway for the kids. We are matching every donation our staff makes to the cause, dollar for dollar, and we have committed to a sponsorship that will fund several scholarships outright. A number of our office staff and field technicians will be running or walking the course themselves, some faster than others, and we are cheering on all of them.
How You Can Join In
Registration for the 5K is open to everyone, from serious runners to families with strollers, and you do not have to be fast to make a difference. If running is not your thing, donations are welcome at any level, and volunteers are always needed on race day. You can find registration and donation details through the event organizers. If you sign up, stop by our booth and let us know you read about the race here; we would love to meet you in person rather than just at a service call.
A Community Worth Investing In
We have said it before and we will keep saying it: a home-services company is only as strong as the community it serves. Days like the Metro Charity 5K remind us why we do this work in the first place. We are grateful to the organizers, the volunteers, and the runners who make it happen year after year, and we are proud to lend our name and our team to the effort. See you at the starting line.
