Giving Back Where We Live and Work
At Summit Home Services, we’re more than a company that shows up when your furnace quits or your breaker trips, we’re your neighbors. That’s why we spend our weekends off the clock at the events that make our metro feel like home. This year, our team had a blast at the Riverside Fall Festival, and we wanted to share a little of what the day was about.
A Day in the Park
The festival took over Riverside Commons Park on a crisp Saturday in October, with the old oak trees along the river path just starting to turn gold. Food trucks lined the north lawn, a bluegrass band played from the bandshell, and what felt like half the city turned out with kids, dogs, and lawn chairs in tow. Our crew set up a booth near the community stage, right between the library’s book sale and the volunteer fire department’s pancake griddle.
What We Brought to the Table
We’re a home-services company, not a carnival act, but we did our best to be useful and fun. We handed out free furnace filters so families could head into winter with a fresh start, and our technicians answered a steady stream of questions, everything from why a certain room never gets warm to whether a smart thermostat is worth it. We also raffled off a free heating system tune-up, and the winner, a retired teacher from the Elmwood neighborhood, stopped by our shop the following week to redeem it.
The Kids’ Corner
Our team ran a little energy-scavenger-hunt game for kids, spotting the ways homes stay warm and cool, with stickers and hot cocoa as prizes. Watching a seven-year-old excitedly explain heat pumps to her dad might have been the highlight of our whole autumn.
Supporting Local Causes
Beyond the fun, the festival raised money for the Riverside Parks Conservancy, which maintains the trails and green space so many of us use year-round. Summit Home Services was proud to sponsor the main stage this year, and we’ve committed to matching a portion of the day’s donations to help fund new trees along the riverwalk.
